Troubleshooting

The swab is red, now what? The proper way to handle lead is complicated due to the number of variables and because its regulation can vary from state to state, we recommend that you ask about your local regulations with your local health department. Additional information is readily available through the National Lead Information Hotline at 1-800-424-LEAD and the Environmental Protection Agency.

Exclusions for Testing
The LeadCheck® Swab is not a quantitative test and cannot determine the amount of lead present. LeadCheck® Swabs cannot be used to determine lead in water.
Lead Hazards
How much lead must be ingested before any symptoms appear? The amount of lead that can cause symptoms varies and depends upon the general health and nutrition of the individual. In children with general poor health, or those with other health problems, the amount of lead is much smaller then the amount it takes in a healthy, nourished child.
